Frequently asked questions
The Ascendant is the point of the zodiac on the eastern horizon. Its position depends on the exact moment and the coordinates. Without a time and place it can't be calculated, so we don't guess it.
Choose the closest place from the list. The result is then an approximation using its coordinates. If the Ascendant sits close to a sign boundary, a different place or a slightly different birth time can change the sign.
Enter the time as precisely as you have it. Even a few minutes can visibly shift the degree; close to a sign boundary, the sign itself can change. Leitstern therefore also checks the values ten minutes before and after.
Yes. The entered local time is converted to UTC using the historical rules of the stored time zone. That includes earlier daylight-saving regulations, as far as they're covered by the time zone database used.
The Midheaven (MC) is the highest point of the ecliptic at the moment of birth, the chart's second axis. In interpretive tradition it stands for career, reputation and public role, the way the Ascendant stands for presence.
